Statement

The theatrical collective Akleriah create multifaceted performances that combine the traditional, contemporary, political and historical. They merge both entertainment and art, producing a vibrant combination of visual, sensual and spiritual qualities. The colourful group ́s performances are continually interactive and site-specific - appealing to wide audiences, from educated art enthusiasts to curious children. The co-founders and directors of Akleriah; AnnaKompaniets and Lenka Johanna-Marie met at Goldsmiths, where they established mutual artistic interests and formed Akleriah. The pair engage a variety of artists, ranging from musicians to painters, photographers and film makers to ensure a constant diversity in their work. Akleriah emits determination and energy, passion and enjoyment. They have a great connection with their audience and give art a fun, light-hearted feel.
