The 2012 Debut Contemporary Art School Awards have finished. Debut Contemporary will be on the search again for the 'Debut Artist of Tomorrow' in 2014. See below what happened last year:
The Winner
The Debut Artists of Tomorrow were announced on the 4th of July 2012 at our gallery during the Summer Private View & Awards Ceremony. At 7.30pm the Director, Samir Ceric, introduced the Awards, unveiled the Category winners and announced the Debut Artists of Tomorrow, selected from hundreds of art school students across London. Elliott Walker, a BA 3rd Year student from Kingston University London, became the overall winner for 2012 and will be joining as a Debut Artist from September 2012.
The Judges
The judging panel for the awards included artist Darren MacPherson, gallery Director Charlie Fellowes, Millie Ross of jotta.com, art journalist and curator Pryle Behrman, world-renowned Olympic chef Nicola Batavia, critic and Director of FLUFF PR, Ben Austin and Co-Founders of Debut Contemporary Samir Ceric & Zoe Knight.
The Prize
Launching the inaugural Debut Contemporary Art School Awards in collaboration with successful US-based brand TOMS, Debut Contemporary are offering students the opportunity to get ahead of the game before they graduate and win £10,000 in kind as the Debut Artist of Tomorrow entailing a 12 month programme as a Debut Artist including receiving 1-2-1 mentoring and professional development led by their team of industry experts coupled with a number of complimentary prizes from likeminded businesses including Fluff PR, jotta, The Shape Of and Artists' Collecting Society. The winner will also receive £1,000 cash to create a commission piece for the Debut Contemporary collection. 7 Debut Artist of Tomorrow Awards were presented – one for each category from Foundation through to PHD Year Fine Art students across London:
