Debut Contemporary proudly partnered with TOMS on the launch of TOMS Eyewear UK and the inaugural Debut Contemporary Art School Awards 2012.

In March 2012 TOMS launched Eyewear in the UK with the same One for One mission as the shoes but this time ‘With every pair of TOMS eyewear purchased, we help give sight to a person in need. One for One.’

To celebrate the launch of TOMS eyewear silhouettes, TOMS exhibited 7 one of a kind eyewear art frames created by Debut Contemporary artists at their first ever UK pop up shop in Covent Garden; Participating artists are Tahnee Lonsdale, Darren MacPherson, Rosie Emerson, duo Twinkle Troughton & Tinsel Edwards, Ben Levy, Dannielle Hodson, and Carne Griffiths.

In line with TOMS 1 for 1 concept, the above mentioned 7 Debut artists became the mentors for the 7 The Art School Award winners.

Throughout 2011 Annoushka Ducas and Debut Contemporary collaborated with creative forces at the forefront of London’s contemporary art scene, producing a unique exhibition series displaying cutting-edge art works adorned with Annoushka’s spectacular fine jewellery all housed at Annoushka’s gallery-like flagship store in Sloane Square.

Masterminded by husband and wife duo, Samir Ceric & Zoe Knight, this collaboration will offer the selected artists, including Bouke de Vries & Rosie Emerson an opportunity not only to push and challenge their creativity but also have their art, created as a result of their collaboration with Annoushka, showcased and sold outside of a traditional white cube gallery space.

Recently relaunching as Net Impact, The LBS Social Responsibility Club join other top schools around the world who focus on sustainability and changing the world through business. Debut Contemporary Founder & CEO, Samir Ceric now sits on the board for the club. Current students, all alumni and the local net impact chapter will join Debut Contemporary to celebrate the impact of art.

The events feature special projects conceived by Debut Artists, including Frankie Morgan, who profiled the unseen heartbeat of the community and raised questions such as – should interactions on the street or at work be viewed as social transaction and considered day to day purchases and what currency is traded in our community?

London Business School Net Impact Social Responsibility Club’s goal is to support the development of students in becoming socially responsible business leaders by providing educational, experiential, professional and networking opportunities to the London Business School community. The chapter focuses on three main areas: impact investing, corporate sustainability, and social entrepreneurship. They work with students, faculty, program administration, alumni and companies to develop and promote opportunities for the integration of social values within business education and careers.

Debut Contemporary, teams up with will UK-based socially responsible fashion retailer, Fashion ComPassion, to host a three part collaborative event sponsored by FAIR. Spirits that merges fashion and art in the most unique manner.

The events showcase socially responsible fashion brands from war torn and under privileged communities together with stunning pieces created by emerging artists from Debut Contemporary’s innovative professional development platform, mentoring and supporting aspiring and ambitious creative stars of the future.

These desirable pieces will be combined with Debut Artists Adrian Scicluna, Dan Johnson, Ewelina Kolaczek, Maia Franceschi, Thomas Dowdeswell, Anja Kleemann-Jacks, David Booth and Laura Iosifescu who also delineate similar narratives, highlighting social and ethical issues in our economy and ecosystem and celebrating life and culture in their work through painting, collage, sculpture and performance.

Working closely with brands that employ marginalized communities and skilled artisans from Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan & India who work under the direct tutelage of some of the finest designers, Fashion ComPassion provides a global platform for these groups. In 2012 Fashion ComPassion has partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to create employability through vocational training among women and adolescent girls in the Neelum Valley in Pakistan.
