Jo Kernon | The Work

Statement

Jo Kernon works with poetic notions. Her work urges people to question, feel and connect. She wants to move and touch others through her artistic practice which spans painting, interventions, video, audio and text. She works closely with other artists, and is a founding member of three artists collectives: The Lost Journeys Travel Agency, The Barefoot Dialogues and The Cupboard Collective. Her key questions include the potential that contemporary art has to reach individuals. How can artists inspire personal and collective transformation through the discovery of what is hidden or neglected? How does imagination open up possibilities? How can poetic visual communication touch someone deeply and why is this so important? Jo Kernon lives and works in East London, she has a MA in Social Sculpture (Interdisciplinary Arts) from Oxford Brookes University and studied painting and sculpture at Emerson College in Sussex.
