John Seaward | The Work

John Seaward studied Art and Design in his home city of York.

John works in a combination of oil, acrylic and spray paint to bring together street art, abstract and surrealist styles. He seeks to explore the possibilities of portraying elements of classical art forms with a contemporary feel to help the audience question what modern art is. 

He draws inspiration from the dream-like worlds of Salvador Dali, M.C. Escher and Richard Dadds, engaging the viewer with multiple layers of detailed imagery, aiming to physically draw in the audience. He hopes as a result that the viewer will reach unique interpretations, as he believes that art is a means of communication between artist and the audience, to encourage subconscious engagement.
