LAURA IOSIFESCU | THE WORK
STATEMENT
Laura was born and raised in Romania but she has been living and working in London, UK for almost seven years now. She first graduated Fine Art High School in Romania in 2002 and then in 2012, she graduated from The School of Arts and Digital Industries (ADI) London, UK, gaining a Bachelor Degree in Fine Art. Her style is fresh and her use of bright colours makes her work really distinctive. She has participated in many exhibitions in UK and USA and has been shortlisted for numerous art awards and art competitions.
The contexts of Laura`s paintings are rooted to her cultural, social and personal experiences .But Nature is what inspires her work the most. Her extreme love for Nature, for colours and paint reflects in each of her paintings .When she is painting she loves to explore the paint. Every time she discovers something new about the paint but also about herself. To her there are no boundaries on what she can do and neither to her creativity... What she does now is transforms the paint into a physical imaginary landscape; literally she is creating her own nature and Earth, through the use of thick paint and layers which are often extreme. An intention is to break down the boarders between two and three dimensionality in the painting. Her paintings aims are to seduce and lure the viewer in, however the density of the landscape also acts as a type of overbearing threat or beautiful repellent.
