Laura Mathews | The Work

Statement

Laura Mathews has always been fascinated by biological mechanics, skeletal and musculature structures. This has led her to create work under the name of LessThanThreeD which explore anthropomorphic metaphors and human-as-animals in playful, interactive sculpture. 

Drawing is enormously important to Mathews and she spends hours researching and perfecting her designs for the exact expression, realism and character she wants to capture. 

With a preference for recycled and reclaimed materials in her work, Laura Mathews likes to push boundaries by using CAD, Laser and Rapid Prototyping technology, street-art and urban themes and found objects, alongside more traditional methods.
