Lauren Drescher | The Work
Statement
Traversing time and memory, Lauren Drescher is interested in symbols that evoke the unconscious mind. Her work explores our collective symbiotic relationship to nature.
Drescher's medical background frequently acts as a catalyst for projects, which are inspired by the interface between science and art. Found materials, which have been cast away, are often the starting point for new works.
Using various print techniques such as etching and relief printing, installations and kinetic sculptures are created. Objects and images are often palimpsest.
Typically handmade, the work has a connection to craft especially where identity is defined by the quotidian.
