Lymara Huckle | The Work
Statement
Lymara Huckle (b. 1990), a Goldsmiths graduate, paints and collates various found images and transitions them to create a narrative of fantasy and imagination. Those who observe are led on a journey of discovery as their eyes travel across the canvas stumbling into smaller caverns of detail within. The use of imagery such as tunnels, roads and steps provide depth in the painting, creating a sense of time travel. In ‘Rebuilding the Empire’ this idea of time travel is seen more visibly, referencing the history of painting and architecture as the viewers vision is moved towards the centre of the canvas.
Lymara has a passion for painting and is fascinated by taking monumental symbolism and transforming them to a world of fiction and imagination. This form of exploration lays the foundation of the series, creating freedom and interaction within each individual piece.
