NEIL HEDGER | THE WORK
STATEMENT
The work of Neil Hedger engages with notions of traditional sculpture, referencing and critiquing the ossified redundant practice of the public monument. It is not the human body that is being represented, rather a critique of representation - a post figurative presentation of the glorification of the body in the tradition of sculpture. Following a career as a sculptor in the film industry, Hedger studied Art Practice at Goldsmiths College and has been selected for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2008, The Matt Roberts Salon Selectors Prize 2009, the group show She Awoke With a Jerk at the Andrea Rosen Gallery, and Art Review Future Greats 2011.
