Senghye Yang | The Work
Statement
Senghye Yang is an artist who draws inspiration from the most ordinary elements of life, whether that be a simple shape, an everyday object, or a place that might not usually attract attention.
Observation is a vital component of Yang's practice, as it is the intricate details of the sbject matter, which usually go unnoticed, that are of interest to Yang.
By taking a representation of ordinary subject matter (whether that be a hand-drawing or a photography). Combining this with a representation of something extraordinary. This juxtaposition of the ordinary to an imagined world, a random place, or a strange object creates something completely unique.
Given her interest in bringing disparate subject matter together, it is fitting that Senghye works primarily in collage. Works are realised through a variety of medium such as detailed hand drawings, screen printing, photography and graphics.
Senghye Yang is from Seoul, South Korea. After a short period at LCC studying Graphic and Media Design, she completed her studies in Graphic Design; Illustration Pathway at Central Saint Martins in 2011.
