Yulia B Stephanel is a self-taught artist of Belarus origin based in North-West London.
The works celebrate the human body - the form, the skin, the inner states made vivid by the posture and look.
Stephanel takes inspiration from everyday experiences - people she encounters, thoughts that pop into her head, music which she feels she has to share with others. Then magic takes place and the act of art happens.
Spending two years in Florida injected the passion for vibrancy and colour into Stephanel's work. She takes black and white images and splits those into a more fragmented texture – and then it is up to the viewer whether to believe the truths and lies it tells them.
